Tucker Piano Studio

Required Supplies

Before the first lesson, each student will receive required piano books, and an ipad/cell phone stand.  In addition, students will need the following at home:

  1. A piano in good working order is an essential investment in your child's piano education, and I may delay enrolling a new student until he or she has an appropriate piano for practice at home. An untuned or poorly working piano will cause enormous frustration for your child and can significantly slow his or her rate of progress. It can even cause the student to lose interest in piano completely. Keep in mind that a sentimental or beautiful piece of furniture is not necessarily a musical instrument appropriate for practice. There are several music stores in the area that rent pianos if you prefer a short-term initial investment.  A full-sized (88-key) digital keyboard with a pedal and a stable stand is preferable to a low-quality acoustic piano.  Keyboards with smaller than standard-size keys, fewer than 88 keys, or without touch response are unacceptable for piano study. Students should not be allowed on a regular basis to practice unmonitored with headphones on an electronic piano.
  2. A quiet environment in which to practice.
  3. An electronic device to connect with the teacher for lessons, download recordings of lesson book pieces, and utilize various apps used during and between lessons.
